This informal meetup is focused on building connection, advancing free flight education, and experiencing all the Eastside has to offer.
Join us in what we hope will be the first of many Eastern Sierra fly-ins to experience the Eastside in all its glory.
Thursday, September 10th
Unstructured free flight. Ride to launch (only), check-in, welcome briefing, and coordinated dinner location.
Friday – Monday, September 11th–14th
Weather permitting, we'll use all 4 full days. Groups forming based on skill / comfort and the weather.
Tuesday, September 15th+
Departure or independent exploration. Coordinate longer trips via Telegram.
6:30 AM: Morning Speedfly Meet-up / Hike / Laps
8:00 - 9:00 AM: Morning Rides, Beginner Track Flights
9:30 AM: Briefing for XC Track
10:00 - 11:00 AM: XC Launches
4:00 - 6:00 PM: Evening Flights (Beginner or Otherwise)
7:00 - 8:00 PM: Evening Education Seminar and Dinner Meet-up
For those focused more on site flying, short XC, and the simple joy of flying and the community, we anticipate earlier morning and late evening flights geared towards low-stress airtime.
Friendly tasks will be set in pursuit of big mountain flying!
For those pilots looking for some pre-XC morning speedflying (our fall favorite), we'll be organizing laps (potentially hike and fly) as well!
Each day, we'll host sessions from various experienced pilots on a range of topics from weather to competition.
$320 – $560
Warm-up day ride to
launch + 4 days of launch rides & retrieve. All administration is volunteer and
unpaid.
Anticipated final price and payment commitment on Sept 1st, 2026.
Launch altitude ranges from 5-8k+ feet, and climbs may take you well above 12k. For those interested in Oxygen refills, we will be coordinating fills at an additional charge.

Fly United directly to BIH (Bishop)
Given our breadth of potential sites and unknown weather, we recommend staying in Bishop or Mammoth. Regardless of choice, be prepared for ~40 min drive each day given the range of potential launches.
